My name is Callista Chabot. I’m a filmmaker, editor, stop motion fabricator, and production designer with a focus in music videos, set design, mixed-media visual storytelling and conceptualization.

My process is deeply design-oriented and rooted in a hands-on approach to filmmaking, often incorporating elements of painting, illustration and sculpture.

Because of my background in production design, I tend to view film through the lens of space and material transformation and find no greater joy than testing the boundaries of what's possible with film. Stop-motion animation, miniature environments, and tactile set construction are recurring elements in my work, allowing me to treat filmmaking as a hybrid practice where different artistic mediums overlap.

Editing is also a central part of my creative process, and I edit all of my own projects. I have spent time developing skills in post-production and visual effects, which allows me to further shape the worlds I build both physically and digitally.

I earned my BFA in Film from the Savannah College of Art and Design, with a minor in Production Design. I continue to pursue collaborative projects across film, music, and visual art.

My work is often inspired by the intersection of not just film, but also media, societal values, and politics. I find immense value in considering the shifting media landscape we live in, and how politics and psychology shape the ways we engage as both viewers and creators. Art can serve as a reflection of society back onto itself, and I feel that right now, it is more important than ever to continue testing the boundaries of what is possible through art (made by humans).
